Scotsman is the third giant of American commercial ice, and its current Prodigy and Prodigy Plus cubers are refreshingly direct about trouble: a code display shows single characters — numbers for faults (1 for a long freeze, 2 for a failed harvest, 4 for high discharge temperature), letters for status (F freezing, H harvesting, b bin full). The wrinkle worth learning: flashing versus steady matters. A flashing code means the controller is retrying on its own; a steady code means it struck out (typically three consecutive failures) and shut down until you reset it — press Off, then On. Prodigy machines also carry AutoAlert indicator lights, including a yellow De-Scale/Sanitize reminder on a six-month timer.
Scotsman's nugget and flake machines (N and F series) use the same display with a different, shorter code table built around the auger drive — and the undercounter CU50 has no code display at all, just indicator lights.
